Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Areas is one of the hidden treasures of Nevada. It’s an area of worldwide geological interest and beauty.
On the Deluxe Tour, after your Red Rock Adventure, it’s off to live the old wild west with a stop at “Old Nevada”, a replica of an 1880’s mining town at the Bonnie Springs Ranch. You will enjoy many attractions from cowboy gunfights and hangings to a petting zoo, and on weekends, a minature train ride for the kids. You’ll love the old western shops!
The photo opportunities are endless as we travel and make stops along the 13 mile scenic drive where you will see beautifully layered red sandstone mountains, unique rock formations, petrified sand dunes, Indian petroglyphs, and pictographs, as well as ancient roasting pits. You will view the most significant geologic feature of Red Rock Canyon, the Keystone Thrust Fault, which is believed to be 65 million years old. Along the way you will see a variety of cacti, yucca, joshua trees, and other plant life. Be on the look out because we never know when we will see big horn sheep or wild horses and burrows! Your visit will include a stop at the visitors center with its fascinating exhibits, educational video, desert tortoise habitat, and lovely gift shop. Bring the kids along and ask for the free junior ranger discovery book filled with fun family activities.
You will enjoy a spectacular picnic lunch and sightseeing at the historic Spring Mountain Ranch. The 520-acre property was developed into a combination working ranch and luxury retreat by a string of owners including Chester Lauck of the comedy team “Lum & Abner,” German actress Vera Krupp and millionaire Howard Hughes .
At the end of the day you will not have only seen the wild west, you will have lived it!
